[ MEN’S WING (COMMISSION)]

It is a blessing to SCC to report that finally we have established the men’s wing. The Committee consists of five members. The committee is being chaired by Rev. A. Kunene from the Free Evangelical Assemblies Church who represents the Men’s wing in the Executive Board.

  • Motivational Theme: “Manhood and Christ likeness are synonymous.”
  • Scriptural Bases: “But you have given us a banner to rally to; and all who love truth will rally to it.” Psalm 60:4 Christian Men’s Net work is a major thrust to establish ministry to men in the whole country, effectively covering the globe with the message that “True manhood and Christ likeness are synonymous.”
  • Goal and Aim:
Changing Men’s eternal future by changing their temporal lives is our singular goal and aim. God does it…one man at a time.
  • Objectives:
    • To set up comprehensive programs of Men’s awareness training at community, regional and national levels.
    • To create a conducive cultural and family environment for men and women, boys and girls to fully enjoy their human rights and develop their full potential/capacity.
    • To carry out mass mobilization campaigns through radio, drama, to raise awareness on the social and cultural beliefs and attitudes of men that lead to violence against women and children.
    • To provide personal and spiritual enrichment and education to the individual or family.
    • To provide spiritual enrichment and education to groups such as churches, home bible studies, and prisons.
    • Hold events called “SUMMIT for Christian Manhood.”
The Interim Committee for the men’s wing stands as follows:
1. Rev. A. Kunene - Free Evangelical Assemblies 6154261

On the other hand the office requests the Member churches to please forward their data to the office so that it can be easy for us to communicate directly with the people involved in all of the denominations. The office will keep a data of Men’s representatives for all the denomination’s local churches.

[ YOUTH COMMISSION ]

Global Youth Ministry Network Seminar: Global Youth Ministry Network (GYMN) in Nairobi, Kenya became a partner to SCC with the objective of equipping youth leaders in Swaziland. This relationship has already borne fruit at inception as two member churches: Christian Family Centre and Evangelical Church benefited in youth team leadership training as the facilitators were in the country. In September 13-17 2004, SCC in collaboration with the Youth Wing national committee hosted GYMN Seminar in Manzini where churches around Mbabane and Manzini sent delegates. The level 1 of the seminar was a success as participants were awarded with certificates on youth leadership training, and level 2 was scheduled for 18-22 July 2005 but was postponed to January 2006. The youth national committee will fix the venue and relevant information. The office is very proud to start at a good pace with the youth. A follow-up training to the September 2004 Youth Leadership Workshop was done in January 16-20, 2006. This training was done in conjunction with Global Youth Network and J-Life South Africa. The facilitators came from both Kenya and South Africa.

Although 21 participants had attended the Level 1 Training, only 9 participants attended the level II follow – up Training. The drop in attendants was attributable to the mobility of Youth Leadership in most member denominations and that we continued to Level II. The level 1 training is expected to be done again in 2007 for a new group of leaders

[ PACWA (WOMEN,S COMMISION) ]

PACWA is headed by a nation interim committee, in which Mrs. TJ Mabuza is the chairperson. She is constitutionally a member of the SCC Executive board, representing the women’s wing and she report to the CEO. PACWA Swaziland is the local chapter of an international body; therefore her membership is expected to fall beyond SCC boundaries. But that does not mean PACWA is not pioneered and controlled by SCC. It is therefore encouraging that there is a steady increase of members from both the Council of Swaziland Churches (CSC) and the League of Swaziland Churches. Their basis of unity is the statement of faith enshrined in their constitution approved by SCC.

Workshops:
All the workshops were held at Helemisi FEA.
  • 1. Leadership Workshop on HIV/AIDS (5/4/03) – This was facilitated by Rev. S. Mzileni of SCC and Mrs. Mavuso from NERCHA
  • 2. Economic Empowerment (9/8/03). This was facilitated by Mrs. Shongwe and Mrs. T Baartijies from Imbita and Mrs. N zwane from Ministry of Agriculture.
  • 3. Orphans and Vulnerable Children (UNDP-UNICEF). This was facilitated by Mrs. Tinnie Dlamini.
  • 4. Pastors’ wives Leadership Seminar (27/9/03). This was facilitated by Mrs. Esme Bowers – PACWA Continental Coordinator. She touched on issues like poverty, women abuse, crime and violence, globalization, humanism, functionalism, atheism, relativism, divorce, single parenting and how to be salt and light. Mrs. MJ Kopp taught on Orphan Care and Support from Leadership Partners in Swaziland
Prayer Meetings:

Four prayer meetings were held, two of which were at Lobamba National Church and the rest at FEA. Speakers were Mrs. V Mavuso, Mrs. ES Dlamini, Rev JV Mazibuko and Rev NT Nyawo. It was encouraging that the wives to His Majesty King Mswati III and members of the Royal family attended these meetings.

Visits:

PACWA has also embarked on a Church Visitations Program which bore fruits. In November we visited two Orphans’ home under the care of Leadership Partners, where we gave food hampers and some clothing.

RE-Launching:

PACWA Swaziland was chosen in Pretoria to host PACWA Continental Leadership Training, which will also serve as the re-launching of PACWA Swaziland in September 2004.

Challenges faced by PACWA:

There is poor member-church participation, fund raising initiatives and the HIV/AIDS pandemic continues to affect and infect people unabatedly.

Future Plans & Financial Report:
  • 1. An aggressive marketing and promotional strategy
  • 2. Economic empowerment for women
  • 3. Discipleship and intercessory prayers
  • 4. Caring and support of orphans and vulnerable children
  • 5. Sharpening of counseling skills and training for Christian women concerning Home Based Care
  • 6. HIV/AIDS support network
